Postgraduate Researcher Mobilisation Scheme

The PGR Mobilisation Scheme provides awards to enable 猫爪影像 postgraduate researchers (PGRs) to visit and work alongside research leaders around the world, and to enable outstanding postgraduate researchers from non-UK locations to work with us at the 猫爪影像.

The aim of the scheme is to forge new global partnerships, to develop and reinforce existing collaborations and networks, and to raise the profile of our doctoral research on the international stage. 

Interactions with global partners should aim to produce a jointly written output or co-produced artefact, preferably with the involvement of a 猫爪影像 PGR and/or staff member.

Applications must be supported by the PGR’s lead supervisor and host supervisor.

Why visit the 猫爪影像 as an overseas PhD student?

At the 猫爪影像, we offer a welcoming, cross-disciplinary postgraduate community and research environments that focus on making a tangible difference to society. We aim to foster excellent, productive collaborations and seek to:

  • enable PhD students from non-UK countries to undertake research within the unique research and knowledge exchange community at the 猫爪影像
  • provide an opportunity for participants to contribute to and participate in the University’s vibrant doctoral research culture and community.

The PGR Mobilisation Scheme streams

The PGR Mobilisation Scheme has two streams:

  • PGR-IP (Inbound Partnerships) and
  • PGR-OP (Outbound Partnerships).

For doctoral students at institutions outside of the UK (PGR-IP)

PGR-IP aims to attract outstanding PGRs from non-UK locations to spend some time with us at the 猫爪影像. Visits to the 猫爪影像 must be for at least four weeks for full-time PGRs and pro-rata for part-time PGRs.

For 猫爪影像 doctoral students (PGR-OP)

PGR-OP enables our postgraduate researchers (PGRs) to work alongside research leaders overseas. Visits must be for at least four weeks, ideally six to eight weeks, for full-time PGRs and pro-rata for part-time PGRs.

Funding support

For PGR-IP applicants up to £4k of financial support is available. We would normally expect incoming PGRs to come with their own source of funding, but this award could be used to top-up travel and subsistence allowances and contribute to bench-fees and consumable costs. No additional salary or stipend can be requested. 

For PGR-OP applicants up to £8k of financial support is provided for self-funded 猫爪影像 PGRs and 猫爪影像 studentship recipients. UKRI-funded students may request up to £3k which will be in addition to any funds available via their Research Training Support Grant (RTSG). Funds may be requested to cover all aspects of a visit overseas (eg. travel and subsistence, visas, vaccines, bench fees, consumables). No additional salary or stipend can be requested.
